Hunter is a fabulous teacher; he is super engaging and it's a pure joy to watch my elementary schooler learn music in a way that excites him. It's a rare thing to see a seven year old engage with pure focus for a whole hour, but at his introductory lesson with Hunter, my kiddo did just that. It's a huge asset to our community to have such excellent music lessons right here in Sudden Valley.

  • Going into the winter months, we wanted our then-7-year old daughter to pick up a new hobby so she wasn't on screens all day long. She chose to learn how to play guitar and we are so glad she did. Hunter not only quickly found the pace she needed to learn the basics, but he focused on the aspects that made her want to come back every week. Fast forward to today and our daughter has been introduced to so many new types of music (no more Taylor Swift songs playing 900 times a day) and has even been able to identify the chords played in a song before picking up the guitar! Her confidence and enthusiasm resonate, and we are so grateful for Hunter's guidance and commitment to her.

  • My kindergartener is learning well at level and enjoys "improv time" :-) Hunter is super patient & organized getting my little guy used to the piano and had his favorite song printed in notes he could manage when we got to class. The studio has a lovely environment and an amazing view!

I met Hunter when he joined my choral music program at Bellingham High School. He became one of my most capable musicians, a versatile performer and a leader in every group... [he] is very intelligent, talented, well-read, creative, thoughtful, capable, and can problem-solve quickly. In short, he is a natural teacher who can handle a variety of ages and subjects, [and] he definitely had a very strong and positive influence on the BHS Choral Music Program.

Very knowledgeable in music, patient, and a great teacher. As a student you get access to exclusive videos that are relevant to what you are currently learning and sheets to guide your practice at home - highly recommend!

I had such an enriching experience with Hunter as my piano teacher! I was coming back to music after a multi-year break from lessons, and he was amazing with adapting to my existing skill set and working to improve it with lessons I felt engaged in (which was especially refreshing as I felt disconnected during other lessons with previous teachers). One thing that stood out about Hunter’s lessons was his encouragement for me to become more independently creative through improv techniques and practices, which has continued to be an interesting topic to me even months later. I would highly recommend him!

Excellent music lessons! I took guitar lessons from Hunter at Peak Valley and found him to be a really thoughtful, effective, and inspiring teacher. As an older student I appreciated his flexibility and willingness to focus on topics that I wanted to focus on, plus he had endless ideas and techniques for pushing me in new directions that I didn't know I wanted. His use of technology makes things like scheduling lessons and accessing materials easy. He's really positive and makes things fun too! Excellent overall!

Hunter is the best private lessons teacher I have had EVER. He adjusts to your music taste when teaching and is very patient. Would give an extra star if I could.

Hunter is an amazing piano teacher, especially for younger kids. He's fun, has great energy, and goes over concepts in a way that kids easily understand. He builds upon each lesson and teaches without the kids really knowing they are learning. The lessons are fun for the kids and the music he teaches is current, so the kids know the songs and light up when they realize they can play along. He's very good at what he does.

I wanted to expand my guitar skills; as a self-taught adult player, I wasn't sure where lessons would lead me. Hunter provided me with great work plans...I really do remember the light switch clicked on and I was able to see parts of my playing that were lacking before. A great teacher: easy to understand and willing to explain things in numerous ways to help you achieve what you are looking for.

Hunter was a great teacher and taught me many new things, like chord progressions and more. He also took time on a piece to perfect it, which was great. He was one of my favorite teachers and worked really well with me.

  • We had a 'full circle' moment today when my son had his first piano lesson; I’m not surprised at all to find that Hunter is an amazing teacher!

My two kids loved their lessons with Hunter! He really makes an effort to understand what they are interested in and shapes the lessons around that. My son and daughter both made great progress at the piano; I was very impressed!

Hunter is a great teacher and was able to create a fun learning atmosphere with great learning resources. He picked songs that really resonated with my kids and made them want to practice and learn. They were so excited, they’d play songs for their friends and ask them to sing along.

I had the pleasure of learning piano and bass with Hunter. As an adult learner, Hunter was excellent at building upon my prior musical knowledge and demystifying a lot of music theory. He is a fantastic teacher and I highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn more about music!

    — Fernando R, adult student (piano/bass)

My 5-year-old took ukulele lessons with Hunter. He was very patient with her and always had great communication! He even put stickers on her ukulele for her to visually learn better.
